President's Report

P&C President Report - 10th December 2019

Hi Everyone,

THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 2019
To give you a brief end of year overview, in 2019, together we raised over $80,000 from events, community partners and voluntary P&C contributions. Thank you everyone for your generosity.

This year, the P&C donated over $58,000 back to the school for new Primary playground equipment, new wayfinding signage, quality art supplies and materials, class room learning resources, representative sports uniforms and equipment, the Warrawee Community Garden, the teacher and P&C staff flu vaccinations program along with sponsoring the Welcome to Warrawee event.

A fantastic result for our school!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CANTEEN
A big congratulations to Jan our Canteen Manager and the whole Canteen team for meeting the requirements of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. See the Canteen news for full details – well done!

Canteen

NEW FLASH
Over the last 2 years we have been undergoing a 'Menu Check' through the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy, an initiative of the NSW Government.

We are pleased to announce that we have completed this process and have successfully qualified as a canteen that meets all relevant requirements of this strategy – please see the certificate in the WW. Very few changes were required to meet the requirements of this Strategy as the Warrawee canteen has always strived to provide a healthy service to the school community over many years.

I'd like to thank Melinda, Amanda and Fiona who have helped me through this process.

Thanks also to the P&C Committee who have supported us the whole way and to the school community who continue to support our service.

WEEK 10, 2019 - CANTEEN OPEN UNTIL 18 DEC
The canteen will remain open until the last day of term, Wednesday 18th Dec.  However, please note some stock will be run down therefore your child might be offered an alternative product when buying over the counter. Flexischools menu should remain the same.

WEEK 1, 2020 - CANTEEN REOPENS 31 JAN
2020 we will reopen on Friday 31st January, Flexischools will be up and running.  Please just reuse your child's class from this year when ordering.

THANK YOU
We would like to take this opportunity to send thanks to all our wonderful parent volunteers who have done an amazing job throughout the year, thank you.

A huge thanks must go to our Year 6 canteen monitors, who turned up promptly every lunchtime, smiling and so willing to help take the infants orders to their classes.  Thank you children, a job well done.

To the Year 6's who are leaving us, good luck with year 7, we will miss you.

Another amazing year in the canteen, it's been a pleasure to make your children's lunches!  Enjoy your holiday break.

See you all in 2020.

Jan and my wonderful staff, Melinda, Fiona & Amanda

LABELLING SCHOOL CLOTHING

It has been brought to our attention there is a large amount of school jackets in lost property that have not been labeled with a child's name. The Uniform Shop does have a laundry marker for purchases made in the shop, however, please remember to label your Flexischool orders as soon as they come home.

Reminders:

  • Online orders will be delivered to your child’s class on a Thursday
  • Uniform Price Lists can be found on the school website
  • Please note the Uniform shop no longer accepts cheque payments
  • With the supermarkets no longer using single use plastic bags, we ask that you please bring in your own bag
  • Please remember to clearly label your uniform items with your child’s name.

Band

Two weeks ago, we held our Instrument Try Night for the incoming Training Band members for next year. It was exciting to see all the new faces and hear the student’s first sounds on all the instruments. All offers for Training Band next year have now been sent out by email. If you were expecting an offer and haven’t yet received it, please email Ben at the email below. More information about the band will be sent out in January.

All Warrawee Bands performed on Saturday at the Warrawee Carols. It was great to see some of the bands combine together for some powerful Christmas Carols!

A reminder that there are NO band rehearsals this week. Band rehearsals will resume in week 2 in Term 1 next year (3-7 February.) Instruments for Intermediate and Performance Band will be handed out in Week 1, and on Tuesday 4 February for Training Band. The rehearsal schedule will remain the same as this year:

Day      Morning (7.30-8.30am)          Afternoon (3.00-4.00pm)

Mon          Intermediate Band                      Performance Band

Tue            Training Band

Wed          Chamber Ensemble                     Stage Band

Fri              Training Band

STAGE BAND & CHAMBER ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS
The auditions for Stage Band and Chamber Ensemble have been postponed, and will be held in the first few weeks of Term 1 next year.

BAND BREAKFAST
The Band Breakfast will be held on Friday the 13th December from 7:30am. This is a way of celebrating a great year in band! It is also a chance to acknowledge and farewell our year 6 students. All hired instruments will need to be returned and checked in during the breakfast in the Band Room. Please ensure that all the required parts of the instrument are in the case before returning them, and take out any reeds/cleaners that you may own. You may get a different instrument next year!

  • Presentation Day (12th December) @ WPS - Performance Band (3-6) and Intermediate Band (K-2)
