President's Report

P&C President Report - 14th May 2019

Hi everyone,

We are now in the middle of our of our ‘May Madness’ – we have quite a few events under out belt now but a few big ones still to go! We are still looking for helpers, in particular for the Election BBQ and Cake Stall and the of course at the Working Bee – your help is really appreciated.

BAND SHOWCASE
Thank you to all the Band Family and friends for coming to support all our wonderful Warrawee bands at the Showcase on 5 May. It was a cold and blustery old day but the musicians soon changed the atmosphere with all of their new repertoire learnt on Band Camp.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL
The Mother’s Day Stall last Wednesday 8 May was a big success. Such a wonderful range of gifts for the children to choose from. A HUGE thank you to all our Year 1 parent volunteers coordinated by Bec S, it was a great team effort. A big shout out to Mr Jon for helping us set up the stall and for donating some Frangipani trees – they were a big hit with the children! The event also raised around $3,500 which is fantastic.

 CROSS COUNTRY EVENT AND FUNDRAISER
A HUGE thank you to all the family and friends of Warrawee Public School! An incredible result for the 2019 Cross Country Fundraiser with more than $19,000 raised! We are are very thankful for your amazing generosity.

The winning class was officially announced in assemblies held on Monday 13th May. Congratulations to Class 2R - winners of the Cross Country Fundraiser 2019 – raising an incredible $1,595!!!! The minor placings were hotly contested with a very close 2nd place to 6C, 3rd place to 5C and 4th place to 2K. Thank you to every class - you all contributed to raising well over $19,000 for our school to go towards new climbing play equipment on the Primary side. A big thank you to Renee D for all her assistance behind the scenes with the online sponsorship site.

FRIDAY 17 MAY |NATIONAL WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY
This Friday the P&C will be assisting with this national event now in its 20th year, when all primary school children are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. All children participating will receive a mini merit!!

SATURDAY 18 MAY | FEDERAL ELECTION BBQ & CAKE STALL
Warrawee Public School will be a polling booth for the Federal Election on Saturday 18th May and the P&C will be running a BBQ and Cake Stall. This is a great opportunity for the School to raise funds while connecting our wider community.

Hopefully by now you should have received a plate in your child’s bag for the Election Day cake stall. Please return your contributions on Friday 17 May to the school hall between 8.30 am-9.30am. Note that the Training Band can drop their contributions off in the Band Room and those at Before School Care can drop them at the Warrawee Care Centre that morning.

We REALLY need volunteers to help with the cakes stall and or BBQ. If you can spare a couple of hours on Friday Morning to help prepare the cake stall and on Saturday to sell the cakes and or work the BBQ, it would be very much appreciated!!! Sign up at: https://signup.com/go/PQYOYCq

SUNDAY 26 MAY | SCHOOL WORKING BEE
The whole school comes together to get some jobs done around our school – last year we had more than 250 helpers attend. Mark it in your diary.

P&C MEETINGS – ALL WELCOME
Thanks to everyone that came along to last night’s P&C meeting. A special thanks to Mrs Roumanos and Mrs Dayhew who gave us an overview of the updated Student Well Being Policy and PBEL (Positive Behaviour Engaged Learners).

Next General P&C Meeting - Monday 5 August (7pm)

CANTEEN

CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL
Thank you for supporting us at our stall at the cross country.  A huge thank you to the parents who helped serve the children, your help was greatly appreciated.

TERM 2 MENU
Term 2 menu will change slightly with the cooler weather. Please check Flexischools when ordering this term.

PSSA TERM 2 FRIDAY WINTER SPORT
Please do not order a hot food lunch if your child is leaving school for PSSA sport on Friday.  The bus company does not allow eating on the bus, therefore cold items are more suitable for them to eat once they arrive at the sport venue.

RECYCLING BIN
The primary playground now has a large yellow bin for recycling of plastic bottles, containers & lids, cans and glass bottles.  This bin is located near the canteen.  Please ask your child to make use of this

THE BAND

All bands performed on Sunday 5th May for the Band Showcase at school. Thank you to everyone who helped with organising the event and the bake stall – all proceeds were donated to the Cookson Family. Despite the crazy weather, the bands all played well, performing their extensive new repertoire learnt at band camp.

Term 2 is shaping up to be an exciting term of performances to show off what we accomplished on band camp and in our rehearsals.

All bands will also be performing at the Wahroonga Music Festival on Sunday the 16th June. Please save the date in your calendars.

Performance Band and Stage Band will also be performing at the NSSWE Community Concerts in Frenchs Forest on Tuesday the 25th of June.
