Canteen
It's been an exciting start to the year for our Year 3 students, they've enjoyed being able to buy items over the counter at breakfast, recess and lunch. We would also like to welcome our Year 6 canteen monitors, their enthusiasm to deliver the lunch orders to classrooms has not gone unnoticed, thank you!
SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Thank you to all who helped us at the swimming carnival stall. Thank you to the students who supported us and bought 'carnival treats'.
RECYCLING
We endeavour to ensure all our packaging in the canteen is recyclable. We have large recycling bins for plastics (yellow) and paper/cardboard (blue) in the primary playground and labelled bins in the infants playgrounds. Can all students please make sure that any container or packet they have purchased is placed in the appropriate bin.
INFANTS RECESS ORDERS
For food health and safety reasons, can we ask that infants students not order hot food for recess. This is stipulated on Flexischools.
FLEXISCHOOLS ORDERS
When ordering your child's recess/lunch please ensure you click on the final "place order" button and check you receive a confirmation message to ensure that you have actually placed the order. We have had a number of children coming to the canteen window thinking they have an order, they don't which tells us this button has not been clicked.
VOLUNTEERS
We are always happy to have volunteers to help serve at lunchtime in the infants window. If you are able to spare an hour or so on any day please email (canteen@wpspandc.org) or pop in and see us in the primary canteen.
IMPORTANCE OF LUNCH AT SCHOOL
A P&C canteen initiative is that no child goes hungry at school. However, please discuss at home with your children the importance of taking lunch/ordering lunch, having enough food in their bags and keeping track of their lunch boxes while at school. To ensure they are not still hungry, maybe pop a few nut-free muesli bars in the front of their bag as a backup. In the event that a child has no food, the Canteen will provide them with an appropriate snack (usually a margarine and vegemite sandwich). If a student indicates on a regular basis they have no lunch and asks for a sandwich, their parent/carer will be notified.
