President's Report

P&C President Report - 23rd June 2020

Hi Everyone,

FARWELL KYLIE
We are sad to inform everyone that our wonderful Uniform Shop Manager Kylie Southwell has indicated that she won’t be continuing with her role passed the end of this Term. Kylie has done an incredible job in her four years in the role with some of her achievements including:

  • introducing online ordering with Flexischools, helping make the Uniform Shop more accessible for our school community
  • continually assessing suppliers in terms of quality and cost and as a result has established new supplier relations to ensure our school community is receiving the best uniform outcomes
  • strengthening supplier relations resulting in more reliable service/delivery
  • being integral in the introduction of new uniform items for girls ie tailored shorts and long pants
  • streamlining stocktake procedures
  • significantly streamlining the Kindy orientation process for uniform ordering ie introduction of a starter pack so parents know exactly what items and how many to purchase
  • and last but definitely not least, being a friendly face who builds rapport with parents.

On behalf of the P&C, I would like to say a very big thank you to Kylie for all her hard work and wish her all the very best for the future.

Thanks also to Rachel Wark who will be helping out in the role from Term 3.

CANTEEN GRANT FUND APPLICATION
The P&C recently submitted a grant fund request via the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program that awards grants for community infrastructure projects. The submission covered the proposed upgrade of some canteen appliances to commercial grade. Thanks to everyone that assisted in putting the grant application together.

EVENTS IN TERM 3
With current restrictions, we are still not able to hold many of our usual P&C events. As we have all learned to accept, this year is just going to be a little different to others. However, we are still looking at ways we can connect as a school community and will keep you posted.

P&C MEETING AND AGM 29TH JUNE
Our first virtual meeting will be our AGM followed by a brief General Meeting on Monday 29th June at 7pm, giving us the opportunity to formalise positions for the remainder of 2020 and cover off any general business items that our Executive Team, P&C Members or Parents and Carers might like to raise.

All are welcome to participate in the AGM. For information about how to join the virtual (Zoom) meeting please email secretary@wpspandc.org

Thank you for supporting our school

Traffic Update - Finlay Road

Kiss and Ride Parking Restrictions and Child Safety
As with all the roads around the school, Finlay Road can get very busy in the mornings and has a few different parking restrictions.

Street signs below are in order from Pacific Hwy going down Finlay Rd (school side). We encourage you to be aware of these signs and the rules and etiquette around the Kiss and Ride.

No Stopping:
At the top of Finlay Rd near the Pedestrian Crossing - do not park or drop off children here.

No Parking - Kiss & Ride:
Finlay Road Kiss and Ride is MORNINGS ONLY. This area is 15 mins parking in the afternoon.

During the Kiss and Ride active period you may not leave your vehicle parked or unattended. You have a maximum of 2 minutes only from the time you stop to drop off your child. This is to ensure a quick and smooth turnover of cars. Failure to observe this traffic rule may result in a fine.

Please park as close as you can to the red flag (indicates start of Kiss and ride), so people may pull in behind you.

If you wish to escort your child to the gate, please park your car further down the hill and walk up with your child. Do not park in the Kiss and Ride, leave your car and walk your child to the gate - you will be fined.

P15 Mins:

You may park here in the mornings and afternoons for 15 minutes only, as stated. You may park here unrestricted outside these hours.

Review of Right Hand Turn onto Pacific Highway from Finlay Road
Please be aware that the right hand turn onto Pacific Hwy from Finlay Road is currently being reviewed. One option being considered is making the right hand turn time restricted.

If anyone has concerns regarding traffic, parking or safety around our school, please contact Dylan or Katy at the email below or feel free to report them directly to Ku-ring-gai Council.
